About PDAIG Guinea is fortunate to have considerable agricultural and mining resources. The country has the richest bauxite and iron deposits in the world as well as abundant agricultural land and water resources, and as such is considered to be the "water tower" of West Africa. However, Guinea has not yet taken advantage of this allocation to achieve sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction. Guinea remains one of the poorest countries in Africa and is classified among the low-income and food-deficit countries by the World Bank. Per capita income was around US $ 490 in 2016, less than a third of the average for the Africa region (US $ 1,505), and the majority of the population continues to live in extreme poverty. According to the 2015 UNDP Human Development Report,
