The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is at the forefront of the news revolution. Their programs empower journalists and engage citizens with new technologies and best practices. ICFJ’s networks of reporters and media entrepreneurs are transforming the field. They believe that better journalism leads to better lives. Over the past 33 years, ICFJ has worked with more than 100,000 professional and citizen journalists and media managers from 180 countries. They work with strong local partners and a network of dedicated alumni.  ICFJ does more than train journalists. They launch news organizations, media associations, journalism schools and news products. With a focus on innovation, they have formed networks of citizen journalists who are using new mobile services to engage under served communities in India, Indonesia and Ghana. They are helping journalists aggregate data for digital maps that they can use to track pollution in the Amazon rainforest. And they have organized the first African News Innovation Challenge to solve digital bottlenecks and create new applications for use in newsrooms across the continent. Flagship Programs Their new Knight International Journalism Fellowships are designed to instill a culture of news innovation and experimentation worldwide. The goal is to seed new ideas and services that deepen coverage, expand news delivery and bring citizens into the editorial process. The Fellows partner with newsrooms, startups and other organizations to help them quickly adopt or invent technology. They work in key areas such as mobile services, data mining, storytelling and social media. The program is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The Fellows build on past successes in the Knight program, which has a strong record of achieving impact. They work in countries where there is a good opportunity to create the news media of the future. With additional support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Knight Fellows are empowering journalists in sub-Saharan Africa to use the latest digital tools to tell compelling stories on health and development issues. The International Journalists’ Network keeps their audience up to date on the latest global media trends, resources and training opportunities. Showcasing thought leadership from industry innovators, IJNet is offered in seven languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, Persian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Users come from more than 185 countries to improve their skills, to network, and to further their careers. ICFJ Anywhere is the global source for online journalism education taught by seasoned professionals. Thousands of participants have studied subjects such as digital media, investigative journalism and religion reporting. Courses are offered in a variety of languages, from Arabic to Spanish.
