Japan Bridge and Structure Institute, Inc.
Japan Bridge & Structure Institute, Inc. (JBSI) was founded in 1962 when Japan constructed its first expressways, the Meishin and Tomei, as well as the Shinkansen Bullet Train Railway.
The main objective of JBSI at that time was to plan and design the bridges and structures of these expressways and railways. Since then, with the remarkable economic growth of Japan, JBSI also has been growing in order to undertake surveys, planning, design and construction supervision of bridges and structures for governmental and other domestic clients with an increased demand for public works. JBSI broadened its fields of specialization even further to cover all steel and prestressed concrete structures as well as planning and design of roads and buildings. Until now, JBSI has been honoured to receive the Japan Civil Engineering Association's Tanaka Award several times for outstanding engineering designs. We believe that among the many engineering consultants in our fields, JBSI, with its widely recognized executive personnel and experienced staff, is one of the foremost engineering firms in Japan.
As for overseas consulting, JBSI has undertaken several Japan International Cooperation Agency Projects in developing countries as well as many other studies and design independently or in association with other Japanese engineering partners. Also in recent years, JBSI has actively jointed with foreign consultants (in England, USA Sri-lanka, Vietnam, etc.) on projects we feel will contribute to the socioeconomic welfare of the world and our firm is always looking for such opportunities to cooperate.
