Karen Women Empowerment Group (KWEG) is one of the CSOs in Myanmar that puts women rights and empowermentrat the forefront of their activities. Their primary objective is to further strengthen the capacity of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), women and men to effectively engage and influence changes in Myanmar. Their approach is working at the grassroots level. KWEG has established good working relationship/partnership with local authorities (the Education Department, Department of Rural Development, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Department of Social Welfare). This good relationship allowed us to lobby for a stronger role of CSO’s in society and legal enforcement. To be able to influence policy changes, we closely link with INGOs, UN agencies and other CSO’s. KWEG is also actively participating in campaign, policy advocacy, lobby movement for democracy changing in Myanmar including constitutional reform movement, ethnic rights and releasing
