Kenan Institute Asia believes in a world where everyone has the right to build a better life for themselves, their family and their community. Every day, we are working in Thailand and the region to inspire students, develop people, and grow leaders by empowering them with the knowledge, technology and skills necessary for a sustainable future. Whether it’s an entrepreneur, a teacher, a student, a community leader, or non-profit manager, we conduct tailored activities to train, coach and equip them so they can achieve their dreams.
Kenan Institute Asia is the leading non-profit provider of education programming in Thailand designed to inspire students, build skilled teachers and grow strong principals. Our learning modules and materials have been adapted from international best practices and specifically matched to meet the local context and curriculum to ensure learning is not only fun, but relevant to school and the real world. Our experts and master teachers work across Thailand to provide poor students with exciting, hands-on learning activities designed to inspire them to pursue a 21st century education and to dream big about their future.
Developing Skilled People
Kenan Institute Asia believes everyone has the right to improve themselves, their families and their community. And Kenan’s experts are here to support them to do just that.
We don’t just provide amazing training; we also provide the coaching and mentoring, and necessary materials and equipment to make sure people are able to apply their new skills.
Whether it’s a community entrepreneur looking to sell on-line, a teacher who wants to deliver a quality education to students, a small business owner looking to sell overseas, a factory worker who needs health literacy knowledge or a sugar-cane farmer who needs financial literacy skills, Kenan is working to make them “smart,” by providing them with the knowledge, technology and skills needed to improve their circumstances and pursue their dreams.
Growing Strong Leaders
Kenan’s work to develop leaders of all kinds focuses on training and coaching that not only works to inspire those around them, but to mobilize and manage those they lead to achieve their goals. From our assessment program that helps leaders understand their leadership style, to tailored training and activities designed to sharpen their leadership and management skills, Kenan’s comprehensive leadership programs are building the next generation of strong leaders to help tackle challenges at the local, national and regional level.
Small Business Competitiveness
Kenan Institute Asia plays an important role in supporting economic growth, alleviating poverty, creating employment opportunities, increasing economic cooperation, supporting business enablers, and the continued integration of the Southeast Asia Economic Community. We partner with policy makers and business leaders to build a strong and sustainable environment to enhance economic growth. Our programming and advisory expertise supports private sector development, from capacity building for micro entrepreneurship and SMEs to policy support for governments and regional political bodies.
Kenan is working in Thailand and Vietnam to deliver our 21st century education model to help students prepare for jobs that haven’t even been created yet. Our goal is to accelerate the changes taking place in education as the region moves from one of rote learning and memorization, to one using modern pedagogies and group, question-based learning.
By improving the curriculum used for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), developing teachers to effectively use modern pedagogies in the classroom to build badly needed 21st century work skills, and supplying classrooms with the equipment needed to teach students using hands-on activities, Kenan is ensuring that hundreds of thousands of students are not being left behind as the region undergoes its next stage of economic development.
Kenan Institute Asia has developed a unique approach to community development that works by empowering individual community members, especially community leaders, to take charge of their community’s development by identifying, prioritizing and addressing local challenges through community action. The model rests upon the concept of “community as a leader”, which has its roots in His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
Kenan’s programming promotes community development by adhering to three core principles:
- Focusing the main effort on developing self-reliant communities through community leadership (bottom-up approach).
- Responding to the unique context of each community.
- Applying proven development approaches to address underlying community challenges as a “call to action” on issues such as economic development, education and health.
