Land Alliance Inc.
The mission of Land Alliance Inc. is to enable the prosperity of people and places by advancing learning and practice to achieve land tenure security and the efficient, inclusive and sustainable use of land and natural resources.
They aim to accelerate quality development by resolving land issues with new paradigms of participation and accountability.
They are a new non-profit organization launched in 2014. They are a think-and-do tank focused on resolving land issues to address four critical development challenges:
Food security and the challenge of sustainable food systems.
Environment and the challenge of sustainable ecosystems.
Urbanization and the challenge of sustainable cities.
Conflict and the challenge of sustainable peace.
Land Alliance is a think-and-do tank that tests new approaches to defining and managing rights, shares expertise and best practices globally, and supports groups working to scale the solution of land issues.
They believe that land issues—rights, obligations, values– are basic to each of these challenges. By scaling and speeding up resolution of land issues, they can scale up and speed up quality development.
Land Alliance is committed to finding solutions to the complex development challenges of cities, rural landscapes and forests through the power of allying local, national and international resources in innovative ways. They seek to harness the values inherent in land, place and natural resources to drive socially inclusive and ecologically-grounded development.
They act as a catalyst for change by mobilizing local action, managing knowledge, driving accountability, and developing long-term capacities. They seek to be a positive disrupter of status quo situations that keep people in poverty and insecurity, misuse resources and inhibit local growth.
Agile. They are a flexible organization with a wide geographic scope and ability to engage from many locations-specific entry points with varying approaches.
Independent. They are not part of any organization (firm, university, public structure, international agency) which might limit flexibility to strategic deployment of resources and to establish partnerships for effective innovation.
Small core team. Their small core team works together with alliances to create a uniquely wide-ranging capacity while maintaining a hands-on engagement.
Alliance-based. They work in flexible alliances with key partners who have established, long-term relationships with Land Alliance core team members.
