Lebanon Humanitarian and Development Forum (LHDF)
The Lebanon Humanitarian and Development Forum (LHDF) was created in January 2014 by a group of Lebanese organizations active in the humanitarian sector, mainly within the framework of the Syrian crisis. The purpose of this platform is to strengthen local humanitarian NGOs transforming them into an essential tool for crisis management.
In November 2017, a group of 40 local and national NGOs gathered and acknowledged the importance of having such a Forum to strengthen the coordination between local NGOs themselves and with external stakeholders.
The Forum aims to facilitate the improvement, rationalization and optimization of the response to humanitarian and development needs in Lebanon particularly through:
Identifying strategic issues.
Facilitating the advocacy for common positions with a unified and consistent voice to influence policy and decision making.
Facilitating the engagement and representation of the Forum’s members with external stakeholders.
Facilitating the empowerment of its members to reinforce their role, as local NGOs, in
Sharing best practices of LNGOs’ interventions in Lebanon.
