Their History
In 1926, Georges-Gaston Gaspard opened a bookshop in Valenciennes (northern France).
The small bookstore grows progressively and, from the sale in stores, it expands to offer printing services and the production of its own range of paper goods.
In 1936, Georges-Gaston Gaspard launched the construction of a large warehouse in the Valenciennes area, which became the main operational center for the delivery service. Georges-Gaston realizes that delivering products directly to customers is more practical, both for them and for the company. A few years after its creation, the activity of the store grows more than that of store sales.
The Second World War has devastating effects on Gaspard's facilities, which are destroyed during an air strike. Georges-Gaston Gaspard decides to review the company's strategy and, together with his son Etienne, they decide to close the store and focus on the business-to-business service.
In 1956, Etienne Gaspard assumes the leadership of the company. In 1959, the first catalog was published.
In 1969, the current president of the company, Mr. Georges Gaspard, son of Etienne, joins the company as sales representative. After holding several positions in the company, he became general manager in 1979. Lyreco was created the same year.
From the 1980s to 2005, Lyreco expands throughout Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Currently, with a turnover of two billion euros in 2015, the company is among the world's leading suppliers of office supply solutions and is present in 42 countries on four continents.
