Manchester Metropolitan University was awarded university status in 1992 and is part of the largest higher education campus in the UK and one of the most extensive education centres in Europe. With a history dating back 150 years, they have a combination of the traditional and the contemporary that sets MMU apart and gives them their distinct character. Their Mission They are a great, modern university, in a great global city, here to make an impact on Manchester, their nation and beyond, with a driving ambition to discover and disseminate knowledge, and make higher education accessible and beneficial to all those with the passion and ability to succeed. They work closely with their city, with business, the community and their academic peers - locally, nationally and internationally - to be inventive and creative, generate great opportunities, and enable their students, colleagues and everyone whose lives they touch to make an impact. Their Approach Their strategic themes are the backdrop for their plans and strategies, setting the tone for their approach. They will illustrate them with compelling stories of their achievements, capturing their strengths, firing the imagination of their staff, and inspiring them to ever greater success. Through them, they will demonstrate the ambition, creativity and impact that characterise Manchester Metropolitan University. The University is committed to good governance and conducts its affairs in a responsible and transparent way, taking into account the requirements of the Higher Education Code of Governance, and the Seven Principles identified by the Nolan Committee on Standards in Public Life, which are selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. Manchester Metropolitan University is led by the Board of Governors, Academic Board and the University Executive Group. The University has 6 faculties, 12 research centres and a range of departments, schools and professional support services that support the work of the University.
