Manchikalalu NGO is a non-religious social organisation. was born at Padua, northern Italy, in 2006. It is the outcome of the initiative of several people interested in improving the social and moral conditions of street children and orphans in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. The promoters of this initiative and founding partners are five volunteers from Italy. Each partner has spent several months in India, focusing on the problems faced by and on the development of street children. Initially they started these projects by supporting an already existing centre for street children. The name of the organisation “Manchikalalu” comes from the dialect spoken in the state of Andhra Pradesh ( the word “telugu”) means “sweet dreams” .
Mancikalalu no-profit organization was created to promote the dignity of Indian abandoned, deprived, working, needy children, increasing their quality of life. It is a laical association for social development created by a group of friends, after important volunteering experiences in India.
In “telugu”, the language spoken in Telangana State in India, “mancikalalu” means “sweet dreams”: they chose this name for our association because the aim shared by all volunteers is to help poor children to fulfill their dreams, giving them the opportunity to live a better life, to study and to follow their ambitions.
