The McGrath Foundation raises money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and to increase breast health understanding. McGrath Breast Care Nurses help people (and their families) affected by breast cancer by providing physical, psychological and emotional support. From the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment, this support is available right across Australia – for free.
The McGrath Foundation funds 117 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, mostly in regional and rural areas where such treatment may be hard to find. While most McGrath Breast Care Nurses are in regional and rural areas, there is a growing need for nurses in urban areas. The foundation works with local area health services to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in areas where they’re needed most.
While more than 50,000 families have been supported since 2005, there’s still a lot more to do to reach every family going through breast cancer. They rely on the heartfelt support they receive from all over Australia – including individuals, communities, corporate partners and government. They help by donating, hosting or attending events, or purchasing McGrath Foundation products, which helps us continue Jane’s legacy and achieve the mission.
