Medical Services Pacific
Medical Services Pacific is a Fijian based charity that provides a range of development services for vulnerable communities in the Asia and Pacific region.
MSP is a rights based agency that works to ensure Pacific women and adolescents have access to quality and professional health services, particularly reproductive health and maternal and child health services. MSP endorses universal access to reproductive health care, recognizing that access to reproductive health care is key to strengthening women’s capacity as providers, and leaders and agents of change in the Pacific.
MSP endorses international human rights conventions and embraces the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). MSP supports the UNGASS Declaration of Commitment to Fight HIV and AIDS. MSP seeks to support the attainment of MGD Goals 1,2, 3,4,5 and 6.

MSP programs are designed to support the, Pacific Platform of Action (2005-2015) and the Fiji Women’s Plan of Action (2010-2019), which are aligned to the Beijing Platform of Action 1995 and the Millennium Development Goal 3 “Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women”. In Fiji, MSP supports the Fiji Road map for Democracy and Sustainable Socio-economic Development (2009-2014), specifically Pillar 10 Improving Health Service Delivery. The Fiji Women’s Plan of Action (WPA) has 5 priority areas for the development and advancement of women. MSP programs support all areas but focus particularly ‘Access to Services (Health and HIV and Aids), Education and other basic services”.
Womens Empowerment and Gender
MSP provides an integrated program response designed to support women and those impacted by gender violence. MSP seeks to increase information and services for women and girls and boys to reduce and end sexual violence, specifically to:
Increase women’s access to justice by providing information and referrals and raising awareness through outreach and public communications around women’s rights.
Provide support services, including a one stop shop model which provides reproductive health care services, clinical services (including HIV and STI counselling testing and treatment), family planning (including unplanned pregnancy advice, referrals and counselling, counselling and referrals for trauma and domestic or gender violence.
Prevent Violence through community outreach and public education (radio and road shows) and supports policy development that seeks to transform gender norms and end VAWG.
MSP has youth inclusive programing and promotes responsible sexual and reproductive health behaviour, aimed to reduce:
Pregnancy before maturity
Unmet need for contraception in young people
STI, HIV/AIDs and RTI
sexual violence and exploitation
Substance Abuse, depression and teen suicide
Improving Nutrition and Oral health
Youth empowerment through information, education and counselling for healthy living.
Climate Change, Environmental Health and Population Focus
MSP was established to provide Technical Support services that include vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning for populations vulnerable to climate change in the Pacific, through its linkages with universities, partner consulting groups and the “friends of MSP group”. The latter is a network of medical and scientific professionals around the world that volunteer their time to assist.See more
