Metro de Quito

The Quito Metro is the largest mobility project the city has ever undertaken in its history and will have an enormous impact on the operation of the capital by becoming the backbone of the public transportation system. Line 1 of the Quito Metro will have an extension of 22 km from Quitumbe to El Labrador, a distance that can be traveled in just 34 minutes. Throughout the 22 km there will be 15 underground stations 150m long each, that is, the equivalent of 1.5 professional soccer fields. Metro Line 1 will transport 400,000 passengers per day. The implementation of the Metro will allow a new organization of Quito's public transport that seeks to reduce vehicle congestion, better service coverage, less transfer time and a more orderly city.
