Within the framework of the general policy of the State, the Ministry of Education undertakes the development of national choices in the areas of education and school education, drawing up plans and programs related thereto, and implementing and evaluating their results.
To this end, it undertakes the following tasks:
1. To realize the right to education for all Tunisians and Tunisians, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 80 of 2002 of 23 July 2002 on school education and revision No. 9 of 2008 of 11 February 2008 and the provisions of Law No. 10 For the year 2008 of 11 February 2008 on vocational training. In this context, the Ministry of Education pays special attention to children with special needs and the children of Tunisians residing abroad.
2. To develop the system of education and rehabilitation to contribute to raising the general scientific and cultural level of the Tunisian people and to enable individuals to reach the highest forms of knowledge and the highest levels of rehabilitation, in response to the demands of the community and the needs of the development of the country and establish a national economy based on knowledge.
3. To manage the public education system, its institutions and its central, regional and local structures, and to implement them in accordance with the quality standards and the principle of equity, as well as supervising:
- Private pre-school education institutions and spaces
- Private and private sector educational institutions
4. Ensuring integration and interaction between the stages, And to prepare for university education and / or active life on the basis of the distribution of learners on different paths, people and specialties in line with their qualifications and with the structural needs of the labor market present and future.
5. To develop the forms of education by trading between the institutions of school education and vocational training centers and in the framework of partnership with economic establishments, so as to improve the employability of learners and achieve compatibility between the composition and needs of the labor market.
6. To adjust the national references, standards and specifications required in the fields of education and evaluation and to ensure their application and development in line with the changes in the fields of education and employment.
7. To adjust the appropriate evaluation and certification formulas for national standards and specifications and to ensure their application.
8. Diversify the forms of learning through the adoption of learning, self-learning, the use of new information and communication technologies in various school activities and the development of distance education through schools and virtual centers.
