History During the administration of President Jokowi the Ministry of Forestry was combined with the Ministry of Environment to become the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Here are the names of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry before joining: Environment State Ministry of Development and Environmental Supervision (Ministry of Environment PPLH, 1978-1983) State Ministry of Population and Environment (Ministry of Environment Ministry of Environment, 1983-1993) State Ministry of Environment (Ministry of Environment, 1993-2005) Ministry of Environment (Ministry of Environment, 2005-2014) Forestry Directorate General of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture (up to 1983) Ministry of Forestry (1983-1998) Ministry of Forestry and Plantation (1998) Ministry of Forestry (1998-2005) Ministry of Forestry (2005-2014) Duties and functions of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry have the task of organizing government affairs in the field of environment and forestry to assist the President in organizing state government. In carrying out its duties, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry carries out functions: formulation and determination of policies in the field of stabilizing forest areas and - environment in a sustainable manner, managing conservation of natural resources and their ecosystems, increasing the carrying capacity of watersheds and protection forests, managing sustainable production forests, increasing the competitiveness of primary industries of forest products, increasing quality of environmental functions, control of pollution and environmental damage, control of the impacts of climate change, control of forest and land fires, social forestry and environmental partnerships, as well as reduction of disturbances, threats and violations of environmental and forestry laws; implementing policies in the field of stabilizing forest areas and the environment in a sustainable manner, managing conservation of natural resources and their ecosystems, increasing the carrying capacity of watersheds and protection forests, managing sustainable production forests, increasing the competitiveness of primary industries of forest products, improving the quality of environmental functions, controlling pollution and environmental damage, controlling climate change, controlling forest and land fires, social forestry and environmental partnerships, as well as reducing disruption, threats, and violations of laws in the environmental and forestry fields; coordinating and synchronizing the implementation of policies in the field of environmental management, biodiversity management, increasing the carrying capacity of watersheds and protection forests, improving the quality of environmental functions, controlling pollution and environmental damage, controlling climate change, controlling forest and land fires, environmental partnerships, and reducing disturbances, threats and violations of environmental and forestry laws; implementation of technical guidance and supervision of the implementation of affairs in the management of forest area consolidation and sustainable environmental management, management of conservation of natural resources and their ecosystems, enhancement of carrying capacity of watersheds and protected forests, management of sustainable production forests, enhancing the competitiveness of primary industries of forest products, improving the quality of environmental functions, controlling pollution and environmental damage, controlling the impacts of climate change, controlling forest and land fires, social forestry and environmental partnerships, as well as reducing disruption, threats and law violations in the field of environment and forestry; conducting research, development and innovation in the field of environment and forestry; implementation of counseling and development of human resources in the field of environment and forestry; implementation of substantive support to all elements of the organization within the Ministry of Environment and Forestry; fostering and providing administrative support within the Ministry of Environment and Forestry; management of state property / assets which are the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry; and supervision of the implementation of tasks within the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
