The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador is the state portfolio responsible for tourism in Ecuador. As the governing body, it leads the tourism activity in Ecuador, develops the sector in a sustainable, conscious and competitive way, exercising its regulatory, planning, management, promotion, dissemination and control roles.
It was created on August 10, 1992 by President Sixto Durán-Ballén with the name of "Ministry of Information and Tourism", appointing Pedro Zambrano Izaguirre as prime minister of the portfolio.
