Ministry of Transportation (Colombia)
In accordance with the National Political Constitution, Law 489 of 1998, Law 790 of 2002 and other regulations in force, the Ministries are, together with the Presidency of the Republic and the Administrative Departments, the main bodies of the National Public Administration and are part of of the Central Sector of the Executive Branch of the Public Power.
The main objectives of the Ministries are the formulation and adoption of the policies, general plans, programs and projects of the Administrative Sector they direct.
Thus, the Ministry of Transportation, as established by Decree 087 of 2011, is the National Government body responsible for formulating and adopting policies, plans, programs, projects and economic regulation of transport, transit and infrastructure, in the road, maritime, fluvial, rail and air modes of the country.
The Ministry of Transport is the head of the Transport Sector, which is constituted by the Ministry, the National Institute of Roads (INVIAS), the National Agency of Infrastructures (ANI), the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (AEROCIVIL), the Superintendency of Ports and Transportation (SUPERTRANSPORTE) and the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV).
An entity of the national order responsible for ensuring the development and improvement of transport, transit and infrastructure, in a comprehensive, competitive and safe, seeking to increase the competitiveness of the country, with technology and human resources committed and motivated.
