MUSOL was born in 1998 by a group of officials, professionals, experts and researchers who focus their interests and professional careers in the field of local Spanish administration.
Since its foundation, MUSOL has a vocation aimed at working with local authorities in the South, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of local actors and their role in local development. Throughout the years MUSOL has diversified its action, from the geographical and sectorial point of view; However, the organization reaffirms its ambition to be a reference in the work with public entities and local organizations in Spain, Africa and Latin America.
In MUSOL we promote the right to a decent life and the sustainable development of the most disadvantaged populations, developing and strengthening the capacities of both regional and local governments and Spanish civil society, Africa and Latin America, all within the framework of the development, decentralization and participation processes in force in the target countries of our activity.
Specializing in strengthening local and regional governments in the countries of the South for being institutions close to people and responsible for basic water, health and education services, defends democratic values, social justice, equity and human rights . MUSOL believes in a work based on transparency, responsibility, learning and innovation to fight poverty.
Currently, it develops different development cooperation projects in Latin America and Africa, as well as raising awareness throughout the Spanish and European geography, with the aim of encouraging participation and expanding the knowledge of the local administration on issues of development cooperation, co-development and decentralization.
