The National Foundation for Cancer Research is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing scientists in the lab the funding they need to make game-changing discoveries in cancer treatments, detection and ultimately, a cure. NFCR has distinguished itself from other organizations by emphasizing long-term, transformative research that is overlooked by other major funding sources. One of NFCR’s guiding principles is to move people away from the old “location-based” approach to cancer. The genetic make-up of cancer is much more important than where it presents itself in the body. For example, a lung cancer patient may have more in common with a brain cancer patient than they do with other lung cancer patient due to the genetic makeup of their cancer. With the help of 4.5 million individual donors over the last 40 years, NFCR has delivered more than $340 million in funding to cancer research leading to a number of important, life-saving discoveries. NFCR Mission Statement The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) was founded in 1973 to support cancer research and public education relating to the prevention, early diagnosis, better treatments and ultimately, a cure for cancer.  NFCR promotes and facilitates collaboration among scientists to accelerate the pace of discovery from bench to bedside.  NFCR is committed to Research for a Cure – cures for all types of cancers. NFCR Vision In order to fully conquer this devastating disease they fund scientists and laboratories worldwide to study cancer at its most fundamental level. Currently, our projects include improving cancer prevention strategies, developing early-detection tools, and advancing targeted cancer therapies. NFCR's work would not be possible without the support of millions of individual donors across the United States and around the world. With continued support, they will continue to foster collaboration amongst scientists around the world and across disciplines; provide seed funding and flexibility for innovative ideas and research; and maintain our long-term vision and commitment to cancer research. NFCR envision a future without the specter of cancer. They will not stop until they find a cure for all types of cancer. Join us today, and help us win.
