They make a real difference to the lives of students
The National Union of Students is a voluntary membership organisation which makes a real difference to the lives of students and its member students' unions.
They are a confederation of 600 students' unions,
amounting to more than 95 per cent of all higher and further education unions in the UK. Through their member students' unions, they represent the interests of more than seven million students.
They promote, defend and extend the rights of students and develop and champion strong students’ unions.
To achieve this, they believe three core values are crucial:
They believe there should be equality of opportunity for everyone to participate fully in a society that celebrates diversity
Their policies and priorities
must be student-led and students’ union-focused through building open, transparent and accessible democratic structures that increase performance and strengthen accountability
Students and students’ unions are more effective when they organise together locally, nationally and internationally. Unity is their strength.
