New York Immigration Coalition

The New York Immigration Coalition aims to achieve a fairer and more just society that values the contributions of immigrants and extends opportunity to all.  The NYIC promotes immigrants’ full civic participation, fosters their leadership, and provides a unified voice and a vehicle for collective action for New York’s diverse immigrant communities. The NYIC boasts nearly 200 member organizations, helps foster immigrant community leadership and civic engagement, and puts immigrants at the table in the major public policy debates of the day. WHAT THEY DO Policy advocacy The NYIC advocates for better laws and policies at the local, state, and national levels to improve the lives of immigrants and all New Yorkers.  Civic participation The NYIC builds immigrant communities’ political power through voter registration, voter education, voter mobilization, and leadership programs. Community education The NYIC informs immigrant communities through community presentations, multilingual educational materials, the media, and other outlets. Training Their Immigrant Concerns Training Institute offers hundreds of workshops and presentations each year on immigration law and other topics that affect immigrants.  VISION The New York Immigration Coalition envisions a New York State that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams.
