Environment & Natural Resources
The services support and strengthen organizations working on the cutting edge of global natural resource management, specially threatened by the adverse impact of climate change. Oiko Logica has worked to balance the scales of all environmental dimensions: from conducting environmental impact assessments of Mining in Imataca Reserve in Venezuela, to Road and Dam Infrastructure projects in Ecuador, or working with the Royal Government of Bhutan to formulate a National Adapatation strategy to climate change.
Food Security and Malnutrition
Oiko Logica has been a consistent provider of food security technical assistance to the Food Security and Malnutrition Secretary (SESAN) of the Government of Guatemala. Oiko Logica has worked with The EU, DFID and CIDA from cross-sectoral food security analysis to strengthen the understanding of why people are food insecure, malnourished or hungry. In line with the broad definition of food security, Oiko Logica supports its analysis along four key dimensions: availability, access, stability and utilization.
Oiko Logica has developed a complete tool box to analyze with major donors the causes of food security: trends such as climate change, depletion of natural resources from which the population makes its living, environmental degradation or food price inflation; events such as natural disasters and conflict; and seasonality, such as seasonal changes in food production and food prices. Oiko Logica also has experience integrating internal factors such as the anthropological dimensions of food intake, the social characteristics of people, the ancient traditions and conditions in which they live and the cultural dynamics of the household that restricts their ability to avoid becoming food insecure in the future.
Poverty and Livelihoods
Oiko Logica has developed a solid track record in the field of poverty reduction and pro-poor development policy. In the last decade, Oiko Logica has contributed to the formulation, implementation and evaluation of National Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSP) in Guyana, Nicaragua, Honduras, Bolivia or Vietnam. More recently we have been advising Small Island Economies, such as St. Vincent and the Grenadines to formulte a National Poverty Reduction Strategy.
Oiko Logica has extensive experience developing, monitoring and evaluation mechanism for poverty reduction policies, developing poverty statistical data production mechanism, and designing national tools for measuring and monitoring poverty reduction programs.
Public Administration & Governance
Oiko Logica has a long record advising ministerial cabinets and facilitating policy dialogue with governments in transition. Oiko Logica has directly interacted with government officials to develop policies and identify obstacles for policy implementation. OIKO LOGICA has experience strengthening and reforming institutional capacity and organizational structure for policy implementation.
To this end, Oiko Logica specializes in the development of a range of proprietary techniques and tools to allow governments to analyze the current policy framework, examine the underlying incentive structures, identify bottlenecks and constraints, and propose changes to policies, regulations, organizations, and other institutional arrangements and mechanisms.

Adaptation : Building on the National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPAs) and other national plans: in-depth research on the likely effects of climate change and reliable climate observation is essential for all adaptation measures.
Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) : Oiko Logica provides advise to governements to decrease the CO2 emissions from developing countries by creating incentives for forest protection, while preserving livelihoods and ecosystems depending on forests.
Enhancing participation in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) : Oiko Logica provides capacity building and technical support, to level the playing field and promote a more equitable geographic distribution of CDM projects.
Promoting Disaster Risk Reduction : Oiko Logica has provided technical assistance to the most disaster prone countries, such as Cabo Verde and Small Island States in the Caribbean (Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago) in building their capacities to prepare for, mitigate and prevent natural disasters.
Mainstreaming climate change into poverty reduction development strategies : Oiko Logica has provided advice to government in developing countries to strengthen implementation of action plan on Climate Change and Development (focused on mainstreaming) in the vulnerable countries, such as Guatemala and Lesotho.
Renewable Accessible and Efficient Energy
Within wind, solar, renewable energy and oil and gas, Oiko Logica provides assessment and advice on appropriate technology for remote areas and scales. Oiko Logica provides new energy efficient cooking and heating techniques in remote areas, through integration of technologies and efficient energy planning is focused on finding optimised solutions to facilitate renewable and alternative access to remote areas. The use of biomass for combined heat and power production and development of sustainable biofuels have also been successful alternatives designed by Oiko Logica for alternative community energy schemes.
