Partnere per Femijet
Partnerë për Fëmijët (Partners for Children) is a local Albanian not-for-profit organisation with its headquarters in Tirana and three field offices based in Peshkopi, Kukes and Bajram Curri in north eastern Albania.
Partnerë per Fëmijët was registered with the Albanian Court on 29 December 2006. Partnerë për Fëmijët implements programmes on early childhood, care and development, education, children with disabilities and child protection.
Since 2003 the organisation has developed, managed and supported the setting up, training and ongoing support of community based preschool and social centres know as the Gardens of Mothers and Children Centres in partnership with the Regional Directorates of Education, Municipalities, Communes and parents. Currently Partnerë për Fëmijët is supporting 55 Gardens of Mothers and Children Centres and 8 state kindergartens in Dibër, Has Kukës and Tropojë Districts. In 2012 another 10 state kindergartens will be supported to improve the level of resources and the learning methods, ensuring a child rights approach.
The education programme has primarily targeted children who have dropped out of school, who are illiterate or are struggling academically; the integration and support of children from ethnic minorities into mandatory school and reducing the isolation and lack of education to children within Tropojë District affected by blood feud revenge. Additionally Partnerë për Fëmijët has set up school psychology services in six communes within Dibër District and in 10 schools in Kukës District in partnership with the Regional Directorates of Education. Capacity building of the school boards enabled the schools to improve their library and sports facilities.
Within the child protection programme, Partnerë për Fëmijët has set up and supported the Child Protection Units in Peshkopi and Shkodra Municipalities, raised local government and communities awareness and promoted the birth registration of children in isolated communities in the north east of Albania, raised awareness and community responses on the risks of children trafficked or smuggled from Albania to work in neighbouring countries and raised awareness on children with disabilities.
All Partnerë për Fëmijët’s programmes and projects are based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and incorporate gender, non-discrimination and do no harm principles.See more
