At the time of establishment, status, organogram, relation with the government, structure of management board, independent organizational entity, dignity, etc of the PIB were not ascertained. From the very beginning PIB is being run by a Board consisting of 14 members that include representatives from News papers Council, Editors Association, Journalists’ Union, concerned ministry and dignitaries of the country. A chairman nominated by the government from among the noted journalists or educationists acts as the head of the board for a term of two years and the Director General of the PIB is the ex officio member secretary of the Management Board. In order to carry out the activities of the PIB smoothly in accordance with the Rules of Business of the PIB the following Executive/ Consultative Committees are formed comprising the members of PIB Management Board:

Selection Committee
Finance Advisory Committee
Training & Research Committee
Audit & Publication Editorial Committee
Provident Fund Trustee Board
Benevolent Fund Trustee Board.
