Reclaim Childhood was founded by two NCAA student-athletes from Williams College. As lifelong sportswomen, Anouk and Katherine knew the impact that athletics could have on the lives of young women, and they were struck by how their Jordanian and refugee peers lacked access to coaching, equipment, and basic facilities. In 2008, together with a group of aspiring Iraqi refugee athletes from Zarqa, they applied for and won a Kathryn Davis Peace Grant to run a summer sports camp.
At Reclaim Childhood they believe girls are powerful. Founded, run, and sustained by powerful women, the RC team knows what it's like to build bridges and break barriers across cultural, gender, and social divides.
Using sport as their vehicle, they build leadership skills that inspire ambition, persistence, and resilience, and leadership skills their players apply both on and off the playing field.
