ABOUT THE RURAL CLIMATE PARTNERSHIP
OUR GOALS

The Rural Climate Partnership is a funding collaborative rooted in rural America. It provides grantmaking, technical assistance, capacity-building resources, and narrative infrastructure to:

  1. Strengthen rural economies through clean energy and agricultural transitions that improve quality of life and generate savings for rural residents.
  2. Advance locally led climate solutions that reduce rural emissions while addressing pollution at its source — in the air, water, and soil.
  3. Ensure equitable benefits from climate investments, particularly in rural communities of color that have experienced or continue to face environmental injustices.
  4. Transform climate narratives by centering opportunity, shared economic prosperity, and rural leadership.

OUR APPROACH

The Rural Climate Partnership recognizes that the challenges facing rural America cannot be solved overnight, nor with strategies imported from cities or coastal regions. Only long-term collaboration, local leadership, and a deep understanding of rural life can truly support the success of rural families, small businesses, and family farms. This principle guides all aspects of its work.

With a mission focused entirely on rural America, the Partnership applies a place-based strategy to sustainable job creation and economic development. Its goal is to empower communities to protect and strengthen what they love about their homes. The organization works to create bright spots, elevate rural leadership, and prepare the foundation for meaningful, lasting change.

Through grantmaking, technical assistance, and shared learning, the Rural Climate Partnership centers the resilience and leadership of rural communities. It believes every American family — regardless of location — deserves the opportunity and resources to build a good life. By highlighting rural success stories and building strong partnerships, the organization demonstrates what’s possible.

OUR WORK

The Rural Climate Partnership directs its grantmaking, capacity-building, and narrative infrastructure efforts across four core investment areas:

  • Clean Energy
Supporting the deployment of clean energy solutions to help rural communities save money, generate green jobs, and improve local energy reliability.
  • Regenerative Agriculture
Advancing regenerative farming, forestry, and ranching practices that restore soil and water health, sustain family farms, and strengthen the nutrition and resilience of the food system.
  • Electrification & Efficiency
Expanding rural initiatives in energy efficiency and electrification to lower utility and transportation costs for households, small businesses, and drivers.
  • Supportive Investments
Assisting rural communities in building resilience against extreme weather, developing strong local workforces, and transitioning to non-extractive, diversified economies.
