Secretary of Tourism of the State of Sao Paulo (Secretaria de Turismo do Estado de Sao Paulo)

The Secretary of Tourism of the State of São Paulo was created on January 1, 2011, by decree  56.635  and is organized by decree Nº  56.638 / 2011  and amended item II of article 3 by decree  57748/2012 . Their role is to promote tourism as an economic activity in a strategic way, contributing to the generation of jobs, income and development throughout the State. This portfolio is also responsible for: Planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating tourism promotion policies; formulate guidelines for the development of actions, plans and programs, including through the execution of works related to tourism in the State; support other institutions, private or not, for the creation of policies that increase tourism; disseminate tourist attractions throughout the State of São Paulo, inside and outside the country; permanently organize an inventory of the state's tourism potential; encourage the creation of schools and courses for the training of professionals to carry out activities related to tourism; elaborate the tourist calendar of the State. Their structure also involves the Department of Support to the Development of Tourist Municipalities (DADETUR), the State Tourism Council, the Regional Tourism Council.
