The Sigrid Rausing Trust is a UK grant making foundation, founded in 1995 by Sigrid Rausing to support human rights globally. Since then, the Trust has given away approximately £299 million to human rights organisations all over the world.
Up until 2010 the Trust had an open application system. They found, however, that only a fraction of the applications coming through the system were related to human rights. Of those, they ended up funding only a small proportion. They decided, therefore, no longer to accept unsolicited applications. Instead, they identify potential new grantees through recommendations and fieldwork.
