Silliman University

Silliman University is a private Christian higher education institution located in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. The University was established on August 28, 1901 by Presbyterian missionaries. It is the first American university in the Philippines, named after Dr. Horace Brinsmade Silliman, a retired businessman and philanthropist from Cohoes, New York, who donated the initial sum of $10,000 to establish what was then known as Silliman Institute. Today, the University hosts in its 13 academic units over 8,000 students from different parts of the country and the globe.
