Singapore Management University (SMU)
Since it was incorporated on 12 January 2000, SMU has established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to produce leaders and creative entrepreneurs capable of excelling in a rapidly changing and dynamic world. From the start, they have set out to provide a different model of education. And in a short span of time, they have set a benchmark for shaping and nurturing leaders, developing talents and spearheading research in Singapore and the region.
Their university, located in the heart of Singapore, puts them at the doorstep of the business world. The city experiences a new heartbeat as they inject vibrancy, innovation and dynamism into their 4.5 hectare campus, which is purposefully designed for a seamless exchange of ideas between their university and the community. They strongly believe in a learning environment that is open and relevant to today’s economy, and they encourage knowledge and talent development that will impact the future of Asian business, and benefit society.
The significance of SMU lies in the experience. They are the focal point of intellectual discourse and spirited academic exchange, attracting thought leaders, industry professionals and entrepreneurs into their campus hub and the city district.
To be a premier university, internationally recognised for its world-class research and distinguished teaching.
To create and disseminate knowledge. SMU aspires to generate leading-edge research with global impact as well as to produce broad-based, creative and entrepreneurial leaders for the knowledge-based economy. SMU is committed to an interactive, participative and technologically enabled learning experience. Towards this end, it will provide a rewarding and challenging environment for faculty, staff and students to kindle and sustain a passion for excellence.
In marking SMU’s 15th anniversary, the University’s Chairman, Board of Trustees and Senior Leaders endorsed a bold vision called SMU Vision 2025. In his State of the University Address on 29 August 2014, SMU President Professor Arnoud De Meyer explained how this Vision aims to build SMU into a great university.See more
