The Social Policy Coordination Cabinet is made up of a Technical Directorate, an Administrative and Financial Department, a Civil Society Consultative Council and Public Member Institutions that are attached to the GCPS.
GCPS functions
According to the provisions of Decree No. 1082-04, GCPS functions are:
- Coordinate the process of formulation, execution and evaluation of the social policies of the Dominican Government.
- Design, establish and follow up a strategic agenda of the social sector and inform the President of the Republic about its evolution.
- Know, attend and give effective response to the social demand in matters related to its field of action.
- Recommend to the President of the Republic, courses of preventive action for real and potential problems that could affect the sector.
- Analyze and make recommendations about matters of a general nature that are related to the other institutions that comprise it.
- Study the issues that affect the competence of several Ministries related to the social sector and that require the preparation of joint proposals, prior to their resolution.
- Respond to the President of the Republic on the general behavior of the sector he coordinates, particularly on the effectiveness and quality of the budgetary execution of the institutions that comprise it, as well as on the impact achieved by its executions.
