The NGO Solidaridad Médica España develops its project in the Bolivian Amazon, specifically in the Department of Beni. The country has seven departments, the Beni being one of those with the highest poverty rates and where most of the Amazonian ethnic groups of Guaraní origin are located. At the beginning of the project, Solidaridad Médica España began activities in the territory of the TIPNIS (Indigenous Territory and Isiboro-Sécure National Park), but as a consequence of the positive impact on the communities, the project was extended to the Tsimane 'indigenous territory, located in the Ballivian province.
The work has always been developed respecting the socio-cultural reality of the area and achieving a syncretism between the two cultures. Their work action based on respect, solidarity and the struggle for universal health, has been a reference within the communities themselves.
