The Foundation was established in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 2005 under the Dutch law as a legally independent institution, its legal status corresponding to Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Service.
Governed by a Board of Trustees, Spanda is committed to foster projects that leverage additional support and serve as a catalyst for long-term systemic change in the areas of Culture, Education, Health, Environment, Microfinance and Research.
A transnational non-governmental non-profit organization for the advancement of Peace, Knowledge and Understanding,
the Foundation's work is supported by donations from individuals, foundations, corporations, and countries.
