The Happy Mums Foundation
The Happy Mums Foundation
About

The Happy Mums Foundation was established in January 2015 by two local mums who had experienced maternal mental health problems themselves, with the aim of developing the support available to others facing similar challenges.

It is our vision that no woman should experience maternal mental health problems.

They are guided in everything that they do by our values, which ensure that our services will always be:

  • Local;
  • Practical;
  • Peer-led.

What they offer doesn’t replace professional advice and treatment, but instead complements this with self-help/community-led initiatives.

A large part our work is in raising awareness, so that more women seek the help they deserve, and the stigma around mental health issues is reduced.

All services offered as part of our #MumsTogether project are free, including creche places while taking part in activities or courses.

They charge fees for room hire and creche places outside of the #MumsTogether project, as well as for one-off events hosted by Happy Mums. Our constitution as a Community Interest Company (CIC) ensures that any profit they make is reinvested in the Foundation. They will never allow cost to be a barrier to anyone who wants to take part, so where possible they will subsidise those on low incomes.
