WHAT IS ASBESTOS?
Asbestos is one of the most widespread and dangerous fibrous minerals on a global level, and particularly in highly industrialized areas such as Belgium.
The buyer of asbestos-containing material was virtually never informed of the fact that hazardous asbestos was being processed. Asbestos was used for almost the entire century, and was massively processed in numerous building materials and also in thousands of other materials.
Despite the ban on the production and sale of asbestos and asbestos-containing products since 1998, all these asbestos-containing products will continue to pose a risk until all these asbestos-containing products have been completely removed and rendered harmless.
Asbestos laboratory Translab specializes in research into asbestos and asbestos applications, the investigation into the presence of asbestos in materials and in buildings, and air measurements to determine the concentration of asbestos fibers in the air in accordance with the legal standard NBN T96-102. They are also active in carrying out inspections for asbestos removal, remediation and demolition work where asbestos materials are removed or touched. In addition, they carry out air measurements as prescribed in RD 16.3.2006 and ARAB 148 decies and others, regarding the legal protection of workers against asbestos in workshops in general, and control measurements during removal of asbestos or disposal of asbestos-containing material in particular.
