The Tunisian American Enterprise Fund intends to strengthen small and medium enterprises, invest in sustainable growth, and create greater opportunities for Tunisians, with special focus on women, youth and investments in the interior regions.
TAEF invests in the whole segment of the SME market in Tunisia: microentreprises, traditional family owned and small mid cap SMEs, startups and the high end segment of SMEs.
TAEF invests also through the whole lifecycle of the enterprises at various stages : from early and startup, to growth development and maturity.
TAEF invests directly in SMEs and through financial institutions (microfinance institutions, PE funds, co-investment structure).
Their approach is through:
Microbusiness. TAEF supports select microfinance institutions (MFIs) regulated by the “Autorité du Contrôle de la Microfinance (ACM).” These MFIs provide scarce loans to working Tunisian micro-entrepreneurs throughout the country.
TAEF is an active investor providing debt, equity, technical assistance and participating in the MFIs’ governance through the expertise of its board members.
Small and mid cap SMEs. TAEF designed a SME platform, the TASME, that invests directly in SMEs through an innovative financing mechanism based on performance based mezzanine products.
High Growth Startups. Along with the partnership with Flat6Labs, BIAT and Meninx Holding, TAEF has put in place a high growth startups financial investment platform designed to provide critical equity and debt investment to Tunisian companies on the cusp of rapid growth (pre-series A) operating in innovation, knowledge and technology.
Large cap SMEs. TAEF invests in large cap SMEs through several innovative financing approaches.
