The UAE Red Crescent Authority has been founded on 31/01/1983 and received international recognition as the member No. 139 in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as of 08/27/1986. 

The UAE Red Crescent Authority works on supporting the formal authorities in time of peace and war in accordance with the provisions of Article (26) of the First Geneva Convention of 1949. 

In time of peace: organizing programs of awareness, first aid and protection and control of epidemics and attention to social issues and to provide various humanitarian aids to the miserable, the needy and victims of accidents and disasters. 

 

In time of war:

• Transport and treatment of casualities and assistance of prisoners within the scope of the Geneva Conventions. 
• Provide relief and first aid to the victims, protection for civilians and shelter for the homeless and stranded people. Tracing and reuniting separated families. 

In 2001, the UAE Red Crescent was chosen the second best humanitarian authority at the level of the continent of Asia. 

 

OBJECTIVES:

• Strengthening the Authority’s role in the areas of humanitarian work at the local level.   
• Support the Authority's role in humanitarian work at the international level.   
• Establishment and dissemination of the culture of volunteerism to increase the role of individuals and institutions of society in volunteering work. 
• Maintain and develop the Authority’s resources to support its role in the areas of humanitarian work. 
• To develop human capabilities to achieve the readiness to respond to the humanitarian calls. 
• Continuous improvement of the Authority’s services and achieving excellence.
