Non-profit organizations play a critical role in society, mobilizing private action for the public good. By responding to the challenges and needs that government and the business sector are unable to fully address, non-profit organizations improve the lives of people and make better communities. One of the most crucial issues that non-profits face is ensuring financial sustainability for their good work to continue.
The group of professionals who conceived Venture for Fund Raising recognized this challenge facing the non-profits in the Philippines and Asia. They therefore envisioned a future where non-profits have diverse funding sources are more professionally-run and have a critical mass of committed donors and volunteers. Venture for Fund Raising began operations in March 1999 precisely to address this. It is the first and only non-profit organization that serves the fund raising needs of other non-profits in the country and Asia.
Their founding board members are themselves experienced fund raisers: Jaime Faustino, currently with The Asia Foundation, whose expertise is in foundation grants; Mayan Quebral, who managed the largest direct mail campaign in the Philippines for UNICEF; Marvee Bonoan, Executive Director of the Asian Institute of Management-Scientific Research Foundation, with extensive experience in capital campaigns; and John Silva, with over 20 years of fund raising experience in organizations such as the Philippine National Museum, Synergeia, the American Cancer Society, Greenpeace and many other organizations in the Philippines and in the U.S.
The Venture Management Team is a group of consultants and practitioners with their own specialties. Mayan Quebral is the Executive Director and Lead Facilitator, who has years of experience in training and consulting; Louie Baclagon is Program Director has specialties in direct marketing, individual donor acquisition, and relationship marketing; and Jowie Jazmines also Program Director has extensive experience in fund raising implementation such as direct mail and special events.
They have since helped over 900 organizations from 24 countries raise funds better through professional training, consulting, and research and public information services. They completed the first ever research project on fund raising strategies and practices of Philippine NGOs, and in partnership with the University of the Philippines Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, conducted the first household survey on giving. In the first quarter of 2002, they published the results of another pioneering study on giving and fund raising, this time involving six other Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, and Thailand). In 2006, they released the results of the 1st Nationwide Survey on Giving that looked at giving motivation of Filipinos across the country.
Venture for Fund Raising also houses a specialized collection of fund raising resource materials from different parts of the world. They also promote philanthropic giving though information campaigns that teach the joy of giving.
Venture for Fund Raising is an accredited donee institution by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification and is a registered non-profit with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
