Created in May 2004, the Veolia Foundation's purpose is to support non-profit, community-oriented projects in France and around the world to prevent exclusion and promote environmental conservation. The foundation also supplies emergency aid in the wake of natural disasters.
Since 2004, the Foundation has been supporting community-oriented, non-profit projects across the world. It focuses on three areas of action:
- Development aid and humanitarian emergencies;
- Social inclusion through work and social links;
- Environmental conservation and biodiversity.
Its operating approach is grounded in:
- Strong personal commitment by Veolia employees (volunteers and sponsors);
- Construction of high-quality partnerships;
- The search for innovation by encouraging creation of high-impact and replicable models.
The Foundation supports a limited selection of projects on a medium- or long-term basis. All these projects are led by previously identified partners and sponsored by employees. It does not therefore consider projects submitted directly outside this framework.
HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCIES AND DEVELOPMENT AID
The foundation provides emergency aid to ensure access to drinking water along with energy and waste management in response to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. It also promotes development projects for these vital services, which are part of Veolia's core expertise.
SOCIAL COHESION AND SUPPORT FOR JOBSEEKERS
The foundation supports organizations that help people who are isolated from the job market to find work through assistance programs and training, fostering the transition to employment and combating exclusion. Since finding a long-term job is a priority objective, the foundation seeks to build “bridges” between jobseekers and the company's business activities.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION
The foundation supports major international programs focused on restoring and protecting the planet's remarkable ecosystems.
It also participates in many awareness-raising and communication projects to encourage behavior patterns more in tune with the environment.
