Vi Agroforestry is a Swedish non-profit organisation pursuing sustainable development work in East Africa. Since 1983, Vi Agroforestry has been working towards a sustainable environment that enables women and men living in poverty to improve their lives. We embrace a unique and holistic approach to development through fighting poverty and climate change – together.
Their support targets smallholder farmer families living in poverty, with a specific focus on women, youth and children, in areas vulnerable to climate change. Agroforestry is at the core of Vi Agroforestry’s interventions. It contributes to sustainable agriculture, providing a means to produce food, improve income, promote environmental sustainability reduce impacts of climate change and promote biodiversity.
They partner closely with local, national and regional farmers’ organisations ensuring local ownership and long-term sustainability in Vi Agroforestry’s activities. To share and deepen their expertise, Vi Agroforestry stays active in international and national development and agricultural networks and promotes well-established practices.
