Overview

The Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre – Dundee and Angus was first established as Dundee Rape Crisis Centre in 1984. In 1999 they changed their name to the Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre as the majority of the women contacting the service were not in crisis and were disclosing historical childhood sexual abuse. In 2013 they agreed to add Dundee and Angus to the name to make it clearer to all the geographical area they cover. They are a specialist agency providing free and confidential trauma informed support services to women and young people who have been raped, sexually abused or sexually exploited at any time in their life. They welcome all service users, staff and volunteers who identify as women irrespective of religion, race, age, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity or disability. The Women's Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre is a local organisation covering Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and Fife. They provide free and confidential support services to women and girls aged 13 years and over who have been raped, sexually abused or sexually exploited.
