Yemen in 2012 was about to declare a mine-free zone and since 2012 due to the political, military and security conditions. Due to the geographical spread and complexities, the problems of mines and explosives in the country have been reduced. Almost all governorates of the Republic are affected by mines and explosives to varying degrees. Which have already been cleared of mines and explosive materials have also returned to the presence of mines as a result of recent developments.
The National Mine Action Program was established on June 17, 1998. The National Demining Committee is the policy and decision maker for all mine action in Yemen through support from UNDP.
