I have worked for the civil society sector and local governance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Turkey, and Bosnia, for more than two decades. I have, consequently, accumulated a wealth of experience regarding Organisational Needs Assessment, Developing Strategic suitability and resilience financial plan and establishing partnerships, capacity-building, designing tailored training packages, advocacy campaigns organising (national and international) and leading local and regional teams in the management of local programmes. I have professional experience in project management cycle, women empowerment, Gender equality, fundraising, humanitarian assistance, women and youth inclusion, and policy formulation, women's engagement in political and social life, local governance and democracy, public policy formulation, conflict resolution and peace-building, Programme/Project Management, counter-violence extremism (CVE), strategic planning and establishing partnerships and managing multi-donor and multi-partner programmes in the MENA region and conducting program evaluation using Outcome Harvesting and participatory methodologies.
I have developed, implemented and mentoring capacity-building programmes in the MENA region for the international organisation, and needs assessment using participatory approaches, community-based methods of training, marketing research and socio-economic research, project cycle management, NGOs sustainability and resilience strategies, resource mobilization plans and women empowerment.
Several professional positions I have held have located within hostile environments such as Jordan, Bosnia, Egypt, Iraq, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria (based in Turkey), Tunisia, Yemen, and the West Bank and Gaza, in which ethnic and religious tensions are rife, and the overall situation delicate, or where the high number of refugees are reallocated. I am, therefore, familiar with, and accustomed to, working in such demanding and intense conditions as a facilitator in bridging the tensions between different ethnic, religious or organisational groups, and planning a possible solution.
I have experience in coalition and consensus-building with government officials, media professionals, religious leaders, and key informants. I am aware of ethnic and cultural diversity and have strong interpersonal communication and writing skills.
Additionally, I have experience in evaluating international funding programmes related to Governance and development, Women and youth inclusion on a national and regional level using participatory approaches and Outcome harvesting methodology.
I have two Master degrees; one in Governance and Development from Sussex University – UK and one in Management from Sadat Academy for Management Science in Egypt.
I am fluent in both Arabic and English, and I am experienced in remote management and providing online workshops via different platforms.
