Alberto Pérez Ortiz is a Spanish Industrial Engineer with an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and an Engineering Doctorate in Offshore Renewable Energy (EngD). His EngD project focused on numerical characterization of the tidal resource in coastal sites.
He has over ten years' experience in R&D, project development, engineering and consultancy in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency. He is a specialist in numerical modelling and energy yield assessments of large-scale tidal and solar PV farms. He has a wealth of experience in project management, including having managed a number of EU funded Horizon 2020 projects. Alberto has also performed third-party technical appraisals of marine energy projects. During his career, Alberto has worked with key industrial, academic and multilateral players, including General Electric, DNV GL, University of Edinburgh, Imperial College of London and the Asian Development Bank. He has authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and is a peer-reviewer of Elsevier Renewable Energy International Journal and MDPI Open Access Journal Energies.
During his career he has worked in the UK, Norway, France, Vietnam and is currently working from his home in Barcelona. Alberto speaks fluent English, Spanish and Catalan. He also speaks French.
