Barbara Sidoti is a specialist in policy development, capacity-building and training with over fifteen years of experience in international affairs. She has been working on institutional reform processes in many EU countries, the Balkans, the Middle East and Africa, with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) as well as international NGOs, bilateral development agencies and some local NGOs. Her competence areas include human rights, migration policies, trafficking in human beings, smuggling of migrants, organized crime, elections, and gender. Barbara is engaged in civil society activities in various communities. She has co-founded IAN, innovative art network, an association promoting social inclusion through art, and 11eleven, a social enterprise that offers training and job opportunities to young migrants and Sicilian disadvantaged youth. She often collaborates with universities and research centers as a guest-lecturer in her areas of expertise. She is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland where she lives with her husband and her dogs.
