I am a Sociologist and Gender Specialist holding a dynamic and multi-faceted Masters'
Degree in Sociology of Development and Globalization from the University College Cork, Ireland; a
Masters' Degree in Women and Gender Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences majoringin Political Science and Sociology both from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. I have 20 years
of relevant experience in participation and in civil society engagement, advocacy and policy dialogue.
I have worked for national and international civil society organizations. I have facilitated and/or
participated in strategic thinking sessions, led policy dialogues involving state and non-state actors
and provided technical support in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating civil society
programmes and project on poverty reduction and social protection, HIV/AIDS, conflict management
and peace-building, governance and accountability, women empowerment and gender equity,
gender-responsive public service delivery, policy research, analysis and policy engagement.
I have deeper understanding of regional social issues on the African continent gained
from my seven (7) years working with international non-governmental organisations and thirteen
(13) in national non-governmental organizations. I am knowledgeable on practices of bilateral and
multilateral agencies such as European Union, DFID, Danida, the World Bank, United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP), UN-Women and African Development Bank among others. I am
actively involved in the civil society sector in Uganda, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, South Sudan and Kenya
working on a range of social issues affecting different regions of the African continent including but
not limited to poverty, chronic poverty and accompanying inequality and vulnerability; social
exclusion of population groups (youth, women, elderly, etc) in economic development low
agricultural productivity; inadequate, inaccessible, poor quality and gender-unresponsive basic
services; under-developed social protection programmes; deficiencies in social accountability and
transparency of governance structures; energy deficiencies and the ravaging el-nino drought and
floods and other climate change effects. I am also an active member to groups and/or platforms
where I actively discuss regional social issues, among these is the online discussion platform
coordinated by Africa for Results Community of Practice.
I am a Trained Trainer and experienced in participatory learning and analysis skills in
designing participatory training programmes, training modules and training assessments as well as
delivering training of trainers' workshops and tailor-made training workshops. I have used these
competences in developing training modules as elaborated in this CV.
Since 2003, I have held senior management positions with experience and aptitude in effective
oral and written communication, organization, prioritization, working independently, under
pressure and as part of a team. I am skilled in mentoring and couching others, working in diverse
multicultural environments as well as focusing on delivering results. I am proficient in using English
and Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. I speak basic French and with ability and commitment to enhance my proficiency in using it.
