I am pursuing a Master's degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University's School of International Service. To supplement my formal education, I am serving in the Peace Corps in Cambodia through its Master's International program with aspirations to find employment in the federal government or the non-profit sector in the future. However, I did not always have such a clear view of my future.
As graduation loomed on the horizon, I only had one question running through my mind: "What am I going to do next?" Like most of my peers, it was on a permanent loop in my head in big, bold letters. And I realized I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go.
So, instead of looking forward, I decided to look backwards. Over the past few years, I have held several positions such as resident advisor at my university, president of my sorority, ESL teacher, and intern at several non-profits dedicated to social justice, education, and opportunities for all. Each one of them was more than just a line on my resume; each was an opportunity to learn and cultivate my skills and interests. These experiences led me to discover my passion for working with people and resolving conflict particularly within the international community. In the coming years, I am excited to learn and experience more in the fields of conflict resolution and international affairs.
