An experienced logistics and operations manager with insight and expertise gained from a career spanning twenty years as an officer in the British Army, operating in fast paced, austere and demanding environments. I have played key roles in multinational operations in the Balkans, Iraq and the Falkland Islands. I can swiftly prioritise, effectively balance scarce resources and take appropriate risk where necessary to achieve intended outcomes. I have extensive experience of running budgets, recruiting and leading large and diverse teams. I take pride in developing personnel, with an impressive track record in training both junior and senior leaders. I am able to resolve difficult and often multi-faceted challenges, using established methodologies and a pioneering approach. I am also a qualified teacher.
On leaving the army, I started a Masters Degree in Disaster Management at Kingston University, graduating with a commendation in January 2017. While studying at postgraduate level, I worked part-time for Rescue Global, an established UK-based (but internationally operative) Non Governmental Organisation (NGO). In this role, I led on adapting and redesigning an operations planning tool that has since been tried and tested in real-life deployments. I have considerable line management experience within both a military and a civilian context.
I am now working as a self-employed Disaster Management Specialist, predominantly teaching on Bournemouth University’s International Disaster Management Course.
