I have been on the founding team of three digital startups, and after working on over 300 new venture projects, I truly understand new venture development and risk mitigation en route to product-market fit. The last 5 years, I have been working as a startup coach specialising in business development, new venture creation and innovation management, helping with validation, building and growing of innovative ideas and new concepts. With my passion for innovation strategy and entrepreneurship, I am always looking at competitive dynamics and shifts to identify new opportunities in the most competitive, fast-paced sectors.
I coach people in the power of agile innovation and introduce them to tools and processes from various philosophies and innovation methodologies. With my extensive experience in Sales and Marketing, I assist teams with the development of business concepts, the formulation of value propositions, product diffusion, customer development and early sales.
Since 2012 I have been involved in the design and delivery of innovation programmes for organisational teams, private training organisations, Massey University, international government groups as well as the ecentre business incubator and accelerator.
I look to support SME teams in their quest for new business opportunities. I inspire them with (startup) best practices, deep customer understanding, and relevant tools and techniques. I act as a sounding board for teams where I not only coach but also contribute to the ideas. I am proficient in the Design Thinking process and Lean Startup as well as a number of tools that help me analyse the business environment, collect insights and share these with the teams I work with. Some of these tools include: Value Proposition Canvas, Lean Canvas, Business Model Canvas, Empathy Mapping, Validation Board, Customer Prioritisation, Pirate Metrics.
