Jacob W.

United States

Summary

I am a self-motivated recent graduate of Colgate University seeking an enriching job opportunity where I can apply my analytical skills, broad thinking, and energetic and positive attitude. Studying Geography, I have gained experience related to the environment and sustainability, including research in foreign and domestic settings. Last summer, I researched Ethiopian Church Forests both in Ethiopia and at Colgate University through biological field work, lab work, and by creating maps. I earned Honors in Geography by writing a year-long thesis, concluding that social cohesion in Ethiopian communities and shared goals with local government lead to stronger forest protection. I also studied Spanish at Colgate, including spending a semester abroad in Cuba. Studying at the University of Havana, I developed a strong cultural and social understanding of Cuban society, lifestyle, and politics, and improved my Spanish to near fluency. Previously, I spent a summer working on an organic farm in rural Kentucky, where I learned sustainability skills and lived in a challenging and unfamiliar environment.
